π Writing Through The Muck and Mud
Being creative in this modern world is like fighting a daily battle...
Thereβs a reason I named my newsletter and blog Fighting For Writing.
If we want to continuously put words down on the page, we have to fight for it. There will be days where we donβt feel well, weβre tired, or busy, or unmotivated, and we have to fight for our own creativity.
And now, weβre facing yet another enemy of writing: the holiday season.
Iβll be honest, Iβm not the biggest fan of the holidays for a few reasons. But I still have to spend time with family, make presents, etc. This season can be difficult physically, mentally, emotionally, but this just means itβs even more important to keep an eye on your creative health.
Back in January, I wrote a blog post about how to keep writing when life getβs tough. I think lots of the tips in this post can relate to the holiday season. Hereβs the link:
When Life Gets Hard, So Does Writing: Use These 5+ Ideas To Keep Writing Through Difficult Times
I canβt overstate the importance of finding balanceβpushing yourself creatively enough that you feel a sense of happiness and satisfaction, but not so much that you feel burnt out and resentful towards your writing.
Another resource Iβd like to offer is my 15+ Year-End Journaling Prompts To Deepen Your Writing Practice.
These gentle questions can help you reflect on what youβve accomplished this year without guilt-tripping yourself. It can be helpful to look back on what you have accomplished, rather than sitting with all you feel you havenβt done.
As a bonus, hereβs a blog post about heading writerβs block off at the pass:
6 Reasons Why You Have Writerβs Block + Actionable Fixes
If you need some more personal help, you can get in touch through my website to schedule a developmental edit or a one-on-one tutoring session, in whichever format youβre most comfortable.
Moon Notes - Current Phase: Waxing Gibbous
The good news for NaNo folks (or anyone who wants to get words down) the moon is headed back towards full on November 27th. Now is the time to rein your inspiration and ride it forward!
If you missed the Tarot Forecast for this week, I highly recommend itβit will give you guidance on how to make the most of the last days of November.
Keep me posted on how youβre doing, how your writing is going, and most importantlyβ
Keep fighting, fighting writers!
