❤️🩹 Writing and Not Writing - What Does Your Cycle Look Like?
Wrapping up November with some gentle encouragement and ideas.
Warm greetings, writing fighters.
How was your full moon week? I hope you were able to take full advantage of the energies and get some amount of writing or creative work done!
If not, that’s okay too. Perhaps your energy was destined for other things.
As the year is almost over, it’s time to start looking at all the ways you progressed as a writer the past 12 months—whether it was starting a daunting new project, finishing something you’ve worked on for a long time, or allowing yourself to take the breaks you needed.
One of my main goals with this newsletter is to take the guilt out of your writing practice. Guilt is an emotion associated with creativity more and more as social media continues to take over our lives in an age of comparison.
So here are some reminders to work with as we continue into the holiday season.
💖 Writing should bring you joy or fulfillment
💖 Writing is challenging—it’s okay to feel frustrated
💖 It’s okay to take breaks, whether that’s 2 days, 2 weeks, or 2 years!
💖 Your story is worth telling
💖 Your voice as a writer and creator is unique
💖 Your value as a writer is not based in how productive you are
💖 You’re still a writer, even if you only wrote one sentence this year.
I won’t deny it: I felt pretty lost near the end of my 2 year writing hiatus. And of course, I dealt with feelings of sadness and guilt about not writing.
But the creative spirit within us never dies; I could always feel my desire to create stories lying beneath the surface.
Have faith, dear writer.
This month was an experiment in motivation and moving with the cycle of the moon. Yesterday was the full moon, and now we are back in a waning period, so be gentle with yourself. I’m not as spiritual a person as I used to be, but I do believe that the movement of heavenly bodies impacts us on a daily basis.
All that said, I want to know how your November went in terms of writing and creativity.
Did you accomplish your goals? What are some ways you can be proud of yourself? Did you try working with the moon phases?
Let me know in the comments and don’t forget to hit the heart button.
I’d also love to chat writing with you on Instagram, Tumblr, or directly through my website.

That’s all I have for you this week. If you need some creative support through the holiday season, I’m here for you!
Take care, writing fighters.
